Key Provincial Resources
The Planning Act (1990) – A key goal of this Act is to “promote sustainable economic development in a healthy natural environment within a provincial policy framework”.
Provincial Policy Statement (2020) – The PPS charges planning authorities to “protect, improve or restore the quality and quantity of water by: a) using the watershed as the ecologically meaningful scale for integrated and long-term planning, which can be a foundation for considering cumulative impacts of development.” Read the full document or section Section 2.2 of the PPS.
Conservation Authorities Act (1990) – The key act assigning some watershed powers to conservation authorities.
