Key Provincial Resources

The Planning Act (1990)A key goal of this Act is to “promote sustainable economic development in a healthy natural environment within a provincial policy framework”.

Provincial Policy Statement (2020)The PPS charges planning authorities to “protect, improve or restore the quality and quantity of water by: a) using the watershed as the ecologically meaningful scale for integrated and long-term planning, which can be a foundation for considering cumulative impacts of development.”  Read the full document or section Section 2.2 of the PPS.

Conservation Authorities Act (1990) The key act assigning some watershed powers to conservation authorities.
